2008 CAHP TECHNICAL SEMINAR SERIES
CAHP actively plans and sponsors up to five technical seminars
per year. These seminars are held throughout California, and offer
an excellent educational opportunity to our member health plans
and other health care organizations. Past seminar topics have

Claims Processing and Adjudication: The Core of Managed Care

Claims processing and adjudication are a central function for any health plan or provider office. As a provider, appropriate and accurate claims mean quick and easy payments. For health plans, timely and effective claims payment ensures a contented provider panel. This technical seminar will provide health plans and providers with an inside look at the best of claims processing, including innovations in real-time claims adjudication. In addition, there will be discussion of legal and regulatory requirements for claims with the Department of Managed Health Care’s top auditing staff.
Health Care Cost Containment: Working Together to Ensure Affordability

Rising costs in health care are not a new issue. However, as fewer Americans are able to include health care as a line item in their budget, we as health care innovators must find ways to control costs from the inside. This technical seminar will delve into a wide range of cost containment options from individual health plan measures, to national and state-level public program strategies. Attendees will be provided with the full scope of solutions to the continued problem of health care affordability. In particular, we will examine the latest means of detecting and combating health care fraud, how to control pharmacy costs, and technology-enabled auditing. Additionally, we will delve cost savings efforts and opportunities in federally sponsored health programs. The technical seminar will leave attendees with the tools to tackle affordability.
